1920年代
”Bye Bye Blackbird”の作者でもあるレイ・ヘンダーソンが作者。この”Has Anybody Seen My Gal?”という曲は第二次世界大戦中でも人気でしたが、その出だしの歌詞から”Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue”とも呼ばれたそうです。 158.5cmくらいの均整のとれたスタイルで青い目”という意味らしいです。
召集されて戦場に送り込まれ、ようやく祖国に戻れた帰還兵が尋ねているのでしょうか、「スラリと背が高くて青い目をした僕の彼女を知らないかい？」
”Has Anybody Seen My Gal?”を最初に吹き込んだのは20年代にジャズを多数レコーディングしたThe California Ramblersというビッグバンドの先達だったそうで、当時の楽団員には Red Nichols（レッド・ニコラス）やJimmy Dorsey & Tommy Dorsey（ジミーとトミーのドーシー兄弟）が在籍していた。
